The Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood – Abu Dhabi, hosts QMS Engineers’ workshop on the Human Resources Competency Based Management System

In line with the organization’s goal to incorporate new management practices into its overall Human Resources strategy, and being fully aware that Competency-based human resources planning serves as a link between human resources management and the overall strategic plan of any organization, H.E. Rym Al Falast, Secretary General of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, in line with the directives of H.H. Sheikha Fatima bit Mubarak, the President of the Supreme Council for Women and Children organized a workshop in partnership with QMS Engineers on Competency-based Human Resources Management for the entity’s senior team members.
The workshop defined competencies as observable abilities, skills, knowledge, motivations or traits outlined in terms of the behaviors needed for successful job performance.
QMS Engineers’ facilitator stressed on the fact that Competency-based Management supports the integration of human resources planning with business planning by allowing the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood to assess the current human resource capacity based on competencies against the capacity needed to achieve its vision, mission and business goals, with targeted human resource strategies, plans and programs to address gaps (e.g., hiring and staffing; learning; career development; succession management; etc.) which are then designed, developed and implemented to close such gaps.
The workshop session focused on the other hand on the increased application of the competency based thinking across varied human resource functions (i.e., recruitment/selection; learning and development, performance management, career development and succession planning, human resource planning), in order to enable the Council to finding new ways to acquire, manage and retain the precious talent needed to achieve its goals.
At the term of the workshop, QMS Engineers consultant wrapped up by saying that properly designed, competencies translate the strategic vision and goals for the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood into behaviors employees must display for the organization to be successful, and this will standardize and integrate all HR activities that support its organizational goals.
This workshop will definitely allow the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood to improve productivity in most areas of human capital management especially as regards to:

Competency architecture
Competency dictionary
Competency-based recruitment
Competency-based learning
Competency-based performance management
Competency-based career development
